September 5th, 2014 thru the 7th, there was a convention called Geek Fan Expo. This convention was held at a Double Trees in Dearborn, off of Ford Road just west of M39, the Southfield Expressway. I attended two of the three days.
This was Geek Fan Expo's 1st year. I feel that they had a good turn out for their first year. The one guest that I came to see was Rob Paulsen. This was not my first time seeing him, but I truly enjoy seeing him. Rob is a very talented voice actor that has done brilliant pieces. Many characters throughout his years of performing. Some of my favorites is Donatello, from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and back in the 80's he was Raph. He was Pinky in Pinky and the Brain, plus Yakko from Animaniacs. So so many more. I was there for several panels and autograph times. He knows my daughters, and has always been so kind to me.
I also went to a couple other panels done by some Authors. Having just written a book myself I was interested in hearing what they had to say. My book isn't published yet, and I was in hopes of learning something. The first two Authors, were more informative, but they were mainly talking about their mistakes. The next Author, her books were about the paranormal. But mainly was answering questions, mainly by one group. I was disappointed about that one, and I normally like that kind of stuff. Both these panels was held Saturday Evening. Before those two panels, my husband and daughter went in to sit through a panel, where people have added music to anime videos. My problem was that I don't know much video, plus wasn't into most of the music. But I tried to give it a try, but the only video that actually got me to laugh was one where Star Trek characters were used. I ended up leaving early, that didn't hold me.
I did go to the Dealer's Room several times and enjoyed looking around, and if I was able, there was some things I would of liked to have been able to buy. Enjoyed seeing some familiar faces too.
Leaving Friday night, a bad storm was heading in. It hit hard, as we were getting back onto the Southfield Expressway. We watched the dark skies light up green as the Transformers were being hit. We heard that the winds hit a good 60 to 70 Miles an hour. Many lost their power, including the hotel where the con was being held. It was good that they had their own Generators, so the con could continue.
I saw many faces I knew, and enjoyed visiting with our friends. I would return and think that they had a good turnout for their first time. Kudos to you, Geek Expo!!!! And Congrats to you getting Rob Paulsen to attend, a Great Guess. Sorry I couldn't attend on Sunday, wasn't feeling well, but my daughter got there.
