I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life. A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen. This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own. I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo. If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well. Hope everyone enjoys. Today’s photo is my Grandma and I back in 1997.
If there’s one person in the world I wish was here with me still, it is my Grandma. Her smile, her laughter, her strength, and passion. No matter what was hurting me, she was there for me. When we lost her in 2003, I did lose a piece of myself. As did my family, she was such an important member of our family who was always there for us. I really wish I could give her a great big hug right now. I can not express how much I truly miss her.
This photo was taken on my birthday that year. We were down in her basement having my birthday party. I am always thrilled to be around my Grandma, so a big smile like that was normal. I choose this photo for today, as it is her birthday and I wanted to do something in memory of my Grandma. She always had the luck of St. Patrick’s Day with her.
Happy Birthday Grandma! You’re always in my heart and I cherish my memories of us together everyday.
