I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life. A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen. This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own. I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo. If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well. Hope everyone enjoys. Today’s photo is me wearing my movie Michaelangelo arms.
This photo is taken at the house I grew up in. I’m wearing stunt arms I got from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III. These are Michaelangelo’s arms, and was a perfect fit. I do not wear these arms anymore as the age is showing in the foam. The nunchuck I’m holding is one of my favorites in size and shape for training with. The wall behind me is covered in Ninja Turtle Toys, inspired by Dan Berger’s office at Mirage Studios. This photo was taken in 1999, when two of my online friends from my old TMNT Chat room came to visit, one of which was Phoenix. It was our first time meeting in person. Now Phoenix is the Cowabunga Corner Editor and one of my best friends.
These Turtle arms were one of the first movie props that I’ve gotten. While I still collect, I don’t go out searching for movie props anymore. I love props and enjoy seeing them when I get the chance. The behind the scenes of TMNT is one of the areas that brings me the most joy. I will never sell any of the props in my collection, I would also never ask another collector to sell their props. I bought these Turtle arms when they were put up for sale from the Prop Master of TMNT III. I got a few other old movie props at that time.
Do you own any props from your favorite films? If so what do you own? Do you display or put these props away for safekeeping? Please feel free to share memories, comments and questions below.
