I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life. A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen. This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own. I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo. If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well. Hope everyone enjoys. Today’s photo is my father with some of the old costume heads he’s made.
As long as I can remember my father, David Ivey, has been very artistic and loved to make costumes. He’s made it into different Newspapers, became the artist for Haunted Houses and art director for a few different TV shows. This photo here is an older picture for my dad, I think done for one of the Newspapers he made it into. Had to be in the late 70’s or early 80’s as his costumes improved and changed a lot from these old photos. His later costumes did not have you seeing through the mouths, so the mouths are more closed up.
My dad is still very creative, he just does not have the space to make his costumes anymore. He does sketches and goofs around with art when ever he can. It’s his passion and always will be. I hope to someday get a place where he can start building things for fun again.
