Kodak Moment #90

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is a fun family photo.

This is my dad with Bryan and I.  The photo was taken in November 1990, around the time when we first wanted to test our costume in public as a business to do photo shoots at flea markets.  My dad made the Krang shoulder puppet for the photo booth.  The Bebop and Michaelangelo costumes were both made for Halloween that year.  This is a very early picture of my costume.  I love this photo as it was the start of some of the best years of my life.

Sadly this photo can not be recreated with any of the props here.  While I still have the body to this Michaelangelo costume, the head was used in building the second costume we made in 1990.  The Bebop Costume was found stored in a shed, not sure how it got out there, but destroyed by weather and rodents.  And Krang was given to Kevin Eastman on New Years Eve 1994 and remained on display in the Words & Pictures Museum until it’s closing day.  Kevin Eastman still has the Krang from what I last heard.  These three brought so much happiness to children through the Detroit Michigan area.

Did you have home made costumes and props of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in the 80’s and 90’s?  Please share thoughts, comments and questions below!
