Kodak Moment #93

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is my dad on March 19th, 1993.

In 1993 we decided to fix up my old Michaelangelo costume by building a new one.  He finished the redesign on March 19th, 1993.  The same day that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III came to theaters.  This is his work station, lots of stuff around that was used to make his artwork from costumes, props to drawings.

The eyes of this turtle head was designed by my mother.  Inspired by a doll that had eyes that would follow you around.  She got taxidermy lion eyes  made sure that they were put in the head in the right area so the eyes would look like they’re following you.  My dad used the original costume’s head as the frame for this costume.  I was surprised by this note and disappointed as I wanted to be able to keep the original costume all together.  I still have the body of the original costume in my collection.

This costume did it’s first work as the party Turtle on March 20th, as I worked two different Star Theaters for opening Saturday of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III.  I made many memories in this costume as well, as it went on to do parties and so much more.

Does anyone in your family make costumes?  Please share thoughts, comments and questions below.
