Kodak Moment #98

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is outside the Madison Heights NAAMA Karate Dojo.

Here I am outside the NAAMA Karate Dojo in Madison Heights.  This was my original location that I joined NAAMA Karate at.  Though my original Sensei moved on from NAAMA at this time to start his own school.  I am holding my Blue Belt in my hand, as we were trained it was not okay to wear your belt outside.  Out of respect for the belt we would remove them.  I loved training with NAAMA and miss this location the most as I spent a lot of time here.  In May 1997 Larry Lam taught a kicking class at this location that I joined in on.  Just one of the many memories.

I’m standing in front of my dad’s van.  He had a few GMC vans through the years.  I do think it was my mom who took this picture of me as she came with me for every class.  She’d sit and watch us train.  She knew so much and would help me get ready for Tournaments, testing and so much more.  I am so thankful that she takes an active role in my life.

Do you take Karate?  Do you have a favorite Dojo you trained at?  Please share thoughts, comments and questions below.
