Kodak Moments #21

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that have been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is from a newspaper.

I often talk about how I grew up with these amazing costumes made by my father, Dave Ivey. This newspaper is just one of the many times my dad was in the spotlight for his work in the area.  He’s good at what he does with foam rubber, and at this time he was still learning new skills and tricks on how to make fun costumes.  My family always enjoyed Halloween from my dad’s great creative ideas.

I was four years old when this photo was taken.  So while I do remember bits and pieces of which costumes I had and where we lived, I don’t remember this photo being taken.  Even with not remembering the photo being taken, this is one of those pictures that makes me smile everytime I see it.  A time from our youth.

Did your Halloween costumes ever get into the newspaper?  Why?  Please share memories, comments and questions below!
