Kodak Moments #25

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is a family photo.

In this photo is my Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Esther, mom and I.  My Aunt was my Grandfather’s sister.  And these are my mother’s folks.  Everyone with me in this photo means so much to me.  They each played a big role in my life.  My mother and I are the only two still around from this photo.  The others live on through our memories.  This was taken in the mid 1990’s, as I can tell by the Pinky and the Brain shirt that I’m wearing.  In my hands I’m holding a TV guide with the Muppets on the cover.  My Aunt is behind me as I’m grinning at her.  My grandma is wearing the blue dress.

I picked this photo for today in honor of my Grandfather.  We lost him 18 years ago today.  I can not express how much we all miss him.  He was a strong man, always there for his family.  Worked a good job, made sure his wife was taken care of, and enjoyed putting model kits together during his spare time.  He liked cars, so a lot of his model kits were of old cars.  He put the family 1914 Indian Motorcycle back together in the 1970’s. .

I keep my grandpa around by sharing memories of him with my friends.  I have family photos up in the room, and talk about all the wonderful things he has done for the people in his life.  He was father to two children, my mom and her brother.   And I always loved his pancakes that he would make when we would stay the night there.  Grandpa would enjoy joking around with me on the phone, and always listened when I wanted to talk to him.

I am thankful for my family and will always hold them close to me through life.  I hope everyone enjoyed learning about one more person who impacted the life of everyone he touched, with great laughter and memories.
