Let Me Introduce Myself

My 5th birthday party. Donatello cake compliments of my wonderful grandmother. As you can guess by me being a contributor for this website, I am a huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. The turtles have been a part of my life since I was a child. I’m 32, so that was in the late 80s early 90s during the height of the TMNT popularity.

Some of my first memories are of watching the original Ninja Turtles cartoon and playing with the Playmate’s toyline. My family was not very wealthy, but even though we were eating spaghetti and I was wearing second generation hand-me-downs, we always had plenty of food and I always had plenty of action figures. All joking aside, my parents had their priorities straight.

The only time I was disconnected from the turtles was in between The Next Mutation and the 4Kids series. I spent less time consuming turtles media for a year or two in my early twenties while I was in film school, but I was attempting to consume as much media as possible. The last 6 years have been great being able to finding an online community through forums and such.

Me at age 4. My local department store was out of Donatello pajamasSome of my other interests are cooking and learning new ways to make vegan versions of foods I ate when I was an omnivore, and hanging out with my dog Josie. I also read and collect comic books and I am currently following Paper Girls, Snotgirl, Saga, and the IDW TMNT main series. My favorite comic book artist has to be Sophie Campbell for sure. For art, nothing beats her work on Glory and I’m a huge fan of a series she writes and draws called Wet Moon and I really dig her work on the Northhampton story arc of IDW’s TMNT.

I also hangout on the TMNT-L forum and have spent some time on the Technodrome forum in the past. If anyone wants to check out more of what’s going on in my life you can follow my instagram @thelifeofamind. Hope to see you on the TMNT-L forum. We need more active members.

I’ll be posting a review of the IDW hardcover collections soon, so stay tuned to Cowabunga Corner.
