Memory of James Avery

One could hope for some good news for starting off the New Year.  Though times remain to be rough all around.  Today, I write this with a heavy heart. I want to wish the family James Avery my deepest condolences.  While I have never met James, his talents and career has touched my life more than once.  He will be deeply missed.

James passed away on December 31st, 2013.  He recently had a surgery and things turned for the worse according to a TMZ report.  James was 65 years old, born on November 27th 1948.

James’s career touched my life most through the role of the Shredder in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series.  James brought the Shredder to life from 1987 to 1993, before he left the show to work more on his live action roles at the time.  To this day, people would talk about how the Shredder was voiced by Uncle Phil in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air TV series.  This is a hot topic that will never fade away, as he will always be remembered for both of those series.

I often hoped for a chance to meet James, as he is the one of the few from the original cast that I never got the chance to sit down and interview.  Though I am happy to say that his stories are out there through other interviews.  People can find out more about him on YouTube, IMDB, and even the original TMNT series has a DVD interview with him.

This has been shared on YouTube, so I would like to share this interview here now.

James is an unforgettable man and will live on in the memories of all of those who knew him and his fans that spread worldwide.  A big thanks to James for taking part in the world of entertainment, bringing smiles to millions of faces and being the amazing actor you were.  And a thanks to his family for sharing him with all of us during his lifetime.

Rest in Peace James Avery
