Michael Bay Speaks Aliens about New TMNT Movie

Michael Bay talks Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by stuffwelike

Well here's an interesting clip, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as aliens?  Ok, this can be taken in a different way and I'm sure a lot of people are jumping to their own ideas of aliens.  Please watch this video clip and think it over a little before reading the rest of this.  As this is going to be my thoughts on what Michael Bay is talking about.

In the video Michael Bay mentioned that they're an alien Race, now if you think about the Turtles have always been alien besides for the first three TMNT films.  In the Mirage Comics and 4Kids series the mutation was caused by an ooze created by the Utroms.  They are not of this earth, meaning the way the Turtles were mutated was because of alien tech.  And let's not forget the original cartoon series and Archie Comics where Shredder used Krang's Mutagen  to make the Turtles and Splinter what they are today.  In most of the history of TMNT they have been part alien.

So my true thoughts on this video is simple.  There's a chance that this mutation could of been caused by something from space.  Now if there is a planet out there that the Turtles themselves came from, than yes Michael Bay and crew is just going to upset Turtle fans in away that they will feel in their pocket books.  These people know one important thing about handling properties that are already out there, they get their money from the loyal fans that keep coming back.  So pushing the edges is something they'll do... but making them aliens from another world would be jumping the shark.  Not a good way to start off a new launch of an old property.

Personally I would like it if who ever got this video posted the full video of Michael's talk.  So we could hear where he was going with this.  I will be searching around to see if I can find more video from this clip, so that we can hear him explain a little more.  This felt as if it was edited down to a controlled piece of video to make it sound worse than it really is.

Michael Bay - Please note that the fans like that these Turtles are from Earth.  And they are believable, otherwise you would not have fans who have been with this ride from the beginning still hanging on to every bit of TMNT news that comes out.  So please, do not 'Jump the Shark' with the first Turtle Movie that you do.

I think Michael Bay is working the internet again.

Turtles are Earth creatures. End of :)

I like the idea of the Turtles having an alien origin. It adds a new twist to an old property and makes the Ninja Turtles more modern. A lot of people were excited about the reptile look for the "leaked" mask of Raphael. The most popular and most widely used TMNT image is a piece of fan art that portrays them as reptiles.

I think Michael Bay is moving in the right direction and the new TMNT movie is going to SWEET!

What I don't like is when one fan acts like they speak for all fans. You said, 'Michael Bay – Please note that the fans like that these Turtles are from Earth." How could you possible have the right to say what fans like or don't. I'm a fan and not only like the idea but almost disagree everything you had to say.

I stumbled onto this blog awhile back. Ever since then, it seems like you use this blog to manipulate what people think "the fans" want. Even the title you chose and how you started off this article. It seems like you wanted people to be upset because you don't seem to care for the concept or Michael Bay's creativity.

It's cool that you like the idea, as there's always something out there for everyone. Though I do not speak for all fans, but I do know a lot of fans personally, and before writing this piece I've talked with some upon the subject. They watched the video and was giving feedback. Not only that if you check into some of the other blogs that speak of this short clip they were a lot more mean about it than I was. Here is where I originally saw the post: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/03/18/cue-outrage-for-their-new-movie-t...

When I first started this story I even said that this is 'my thoughts' yes I did address Michael Bay and spoke of fans with an s, because I do know a lot of fans. Though I never said 'all fans' I said 'fans' and this is from talking to a lot of different fans. Sorry if you feel that I 'manipulate' what people think. Though I do leave the comment area for discussion so people can talk things out and ask for what other people think. My write ups are always my thoughts and if I'm talking about 'fans' in a group it's because I have reactions from countless other people who talk to me daily. I will never say 'everyone' or 'all fans' because I know not every fan ever agrees on everything.

I will like to conclude with this note by saying - I don't feel like I was attacking Michael Bay's idea, because once again This video does not really give the real idea away. It's too short, and cut as if the person doing it just wanted to share that one part for a reaction. Which is what they're getting (from the looks of my FB wall, email and PMs from other fans who saw it). I would love to see this full video to hear what else he had to say.

Thanks for the comment, and again you feel that way about the blog.

nice Article Michele. I am wondering if you have any details, because we all know Michael Bay is actually an alien himself.. It all makes sense..LOL The Movie will Pretty much be The Turtles crash to Earth, in A GIANT EXPLOSION OF FIRE then they make their way to new york where they start to fight crime, and the Shredder, an Ex Military Badass (face it It's a Michael Bay movie it NEEDS the Military) tries to replicate weapons from the turtles planet but gets caught in A GIANT EXPLOSION OF RAGE making him The Shredder. Yeah, I can see this happening, although as long as there is splinter I'm ok with it. I mean turtles forever showed us that there are many dimensions of the Turtles, this can be one of them!

Very true, I've always felt that way about the TMNT, 'Turtles Forever' just really hit it on the nose. This is why I can enjoy all of the different medias that have been released so far. Of course there has been some areas like all fans, that I don't feel strongly about for one reason or another.

Personally I really hope that I can enjoy this movie as live action is one of the things I've always enjoyed the most about TMNT. The original movies, tours, and the Next Mutation each have been something I personally enjoyed.. I do hope I can add this film to my list, which is one of the reasons I wish we heard more of this speech that Michael was giving.

Hrm, I'm divided on this....while T.A.N.T (Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles) doesn't sound so appealing, I am curious about the whole Alien...thing in general. So for now, I'll keep an open mind but, yes...MUTANT still sounds...better...than ALIEN to me....X3

Just because the mutagen the Utroms made turn out the turtles into a mutant different form, I don´t think that using the concept or words of " they are an alien Race " is a very wise statement, it may be confusing and interpreted in a very different way. The turtles are from planet Earth mutated by an alien susbtance and that´s all, I don´t think that strongly made the turtles "Aliens" and saying they are or have alien part ruin the way as a TMNT fan know, love and respect the characters and franchise . It´s like , Superman is an "alien" or extraterrestrial, whatever, and just because he lived and was grown in the Earth make him human ?, well, not, he is an ALIEN or EXTRATERRESTRIAL.

I also remember the Planet of the Turtleloids episodes, and if the Turtles are gonna be some Turtle aliens like that episodes, then all the thing is very screwed .

Now, I recently read that if the whole aliens concept is managed as he said, the most probable villain could it be Krang, and other several alien species could be appearing too ( Triceratons ?, Utroms ?, characters from the Battle Nexus ? ) , and that may be kinda good I guess.

This could only work if we´re talking about something like a Tale of the TMNT story, if that´s the case, then go ahead and make also the movie where the Turtles have superpowers and are real superheroes like the Justice League.
