Paranorman Green Carpet Event

Since I’ve left Michigan I have not been to any movies, though on August 5th we did go to a movie event, at least in the fan area.  Right now Miki and I are in California to work on getting TMNT stories for future episodes of Cowabunga Corner.  Though we do other things when we get the chance, and Miki found that the movie Paranorman had a movie premiere at Universal City Walk.  This was the big one, where the stars of the movie would be walking the carpet.  So we decided to go, bringing some friends to see which actors were going to be there.

We got to the location around 11:30am, the movie was not to start until 2pm which meant the activity of guests coming through would happen before 2.  There was a gated area where people who came to watch could stand and try to get autographs for their photos with the stars.  We got there early enough to stand in front.   It wasn’t till 12:30 that people started to show up.

I will admit that I am not up with who every star is.  Though as they came through I got scribbles on the back of a card and posed for a photo with them.  I learned fast that not every star coming here was part of the movie.  While I did not know who most of these people were, there were people in the crowd who came ready with things for autographs.  One of these guys was standing right next to me, so he would fill me in, and normally I would know their work.

This was a fun outing for a few hours.  We got to see some famous people, get some autographs and talk with other movie goers who enjoy going out to see things like this.  For me the highlight was when our friend, Cynthia, noticed one of the stars that I was thrilled to see.  She came to me and told that Ernie Hudson was there.  Ernie was Winston in the Ghostbuster movies!

We stayed until the event was done.  Overall it was a fun day out.  The movie comes out today, and we’re hoping to go see the film soon.
