Random Collection Piece #4

Throughout the years of being a Ninja Turtle fan, my collection has been growing.  Every year I get something new that joins the collection.  Growing since 1989, I have over 500 Ninja Turtle toys out of package and over 300 in package, as well as books, animation cels, original comic art, scripts and so much more.  To cover all of this on Cowabunga Corner is not something I really think I can do.  Though I get a lot of questions about my collection, so I figured I could do random stories from time to time to share one item in my collection.

This is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles bathroom toy I got it from a yard sale years ago, so I never saw this in package.  I believe the back of it is meant to hold soap.  The little speed boat thing that he is in, has a face on it, a creature with sharp teeth.  Though for a dangerous creature it’s colors do not seem threatening as the back part of this toy is pink.  The turtle in this is a very simple design, with both the front plastron and back shell being colored the same yellow.  The bottle of this toy it has ©1991 Ducair Tsumura ©Mirage Studios All Rights Reserved. Made in China.

I know this is designed for a bathroom toy, though I don’t keep much TMNT stuff in the bathroom.  So it’s normally mixed in with my action figures as just a different piece of the collection out on display in the bedroom.  I like these odds and ins that you just don’t see everyday.  I don’t use it for anything other than a collection piece and would like to know more information about it. When doing a search for Ducair Tsumura, I found that they have a full line of toiletries, cosmetics and personal fragrances for children. The company was out of Scottsdale, AZ.  The copyrights were abandoned in 1993.

If anyone knows more about this piece, please do contact me and share some details.  Did it come with a bar of soap in one of those little TMNT boxes?  Were there more than one Turtle made with this mold?  These are some of the things I would like to know about it.  At least I know it’s from 1991.  If you know any of the answers to these questions please let us know in the comment area below.  If not feel free to ask any of your questions or just comment on this fun little piece from TMNT History.  Remember all email addresses are kept private.

Hey, Michele, for some reason the picture of the item isn't showing up.  I don't know why.  I would love to see what it looks like. :(

Sorry about that. When we upgraded to the new website platform, not all old files transferred properly. The old platform was serious crap and cutting through all of the old files is a horrendous task. Though I've done a slight cheat for now, and we have this article's picture uploaded again. :)Enjoy!Phoenix

Thank you, Phoenix! Yeah, I noticed that a lot of the pictures in the Random Collection Piece entries have disappeared.  Thank you for trying to restore them all!
