Random Collection Piece #7

Throughout the years of being a Ninja Turtle fan, my collection has been growing.  Every year I get something new that joins the collection.  Growing since 1989, I have over 500 Ninja Turtle toys out of package and over 300 in package, as well as books, animation cels, original comic art, scripts and so much more.  To cover all of this on Cowabunga Corner is not something I really think I can do.  Though I get a lot of questions about my collection, so I figured I could do random stories from time to time to share one item in my collection.

This is a set of little Ninja Turtle Snow glob stamps.  These tiny little thing each have a stamp of their Turtle on the bottom.  I got this set from a friend in 2009 when she was in the middle of a move and had to give up a handful of her stuff, including some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collectibles.  She gave me a box that had old comics, toys and these four tiny stamps.  They’re so old that more than half of the liquid that was inside with them is gone and their sparkles stick to the side of the plastic, but each of the tiny TMNT figures inside are ok.

Each Turtle has a cap for the bottom of the stamp, with their name written on it with the little ™ next to their names.  On the bottom of that cap is where the information is stored, though to my surprise  the “©Mirage Studios” is nowhere seen on these stamps.  The bottom just says “Noteworthy Pat. Pend.  Made in China.”  I tried to do a search on Noteworthy Pat. Pend. though did not find a website on the company.

I try to keep these four together.   They’re so small could be easy to lose.  I know I have the bottom to the Michaelangelo stamp somewhere, I saw it when they were moving stuff here and it was brought over at a different time and I didn’t know where these four were.  Now I don’t know where that is, but I have these four on display in the room.

I really like this set of stamps as it reminds me of a lot of the stuff that was coming out in the early 1990’s.   We had odds and ins all over the place, so much stuff it was hard for any one fan to keep up with as they were hitting the market.  I do not know if this was sold as a set or if these were sold one by one, or if they even had packaging that they were sold in.  I just know this was a cool little set given to me.  I keep them on top of my tv stand with a handful of TMNT toys on display.

It’s small things like this that I really enjoy from the early 1990’s, the stuff you don’t hear people talking too much about.  You most likely will not see these get released again as they’re not shown in any magazine or comic, some websites do pick up on these little things from our past.  Though there’s always something else to find that is cool and interesting from the early days of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The only mistake I find with these is that they gave didn’t add the straps on Leonardo’s belt, but they did for Donatello.  It’s usually the other way around.  Leo most likely has the straps, Don did a lot back in the early days too, but if one of them wasn’t going to have that strap it was normally Donatello.

Do you have these stamps?  Do you know what year they came out in or if they had their own packaging?  Were they sold together or not?  Do you have any questions or comments?   Please feel free to ask or share in the comment section below.  All email addresses are kept private.
