Review: Anchovy Alley; TMNT Pizza Playset

When I was at the Playmates Booth in Toy Fair 2013, they showed us many cool Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles items coming out.  One of which was the Anchovy Alley Pop-Up Playset.  A pizza box that folds up to be a play set.  This is one idea that got me really excited.  Back in the day there was only two Turtle play sets which was the Lair and the Technodrome.  Both of which were bulky and not something I could bring around with me away from home. This is a big change for the future of TMNT Action Figure Play sets.  Here is my review as I went out and got my own Anchovy Alley.

Personally I love this set.  I know some of the features did not work for me.  But the idea of just having this set to pose toys on, to bring around, to shoot pizzas from, and so much more is exciting.  It's the right size to bring out for photo shoots without worry of breaking it or loosing any pieces.  I feel that this is brilliant and the sets can only get better from here.  Playmates has gone above and beyond in bringing us into a new area for TMNT and I hope that it goes over well with the fans.

Have you picked up the Anchovy Alley?  If so what are your thoughts on this Play set for the Nickelodeon TMNT action figures?  Please share reviews, comments and questions below!

That's a good point, I guess I didn't really think about the prices, heh heh...It's good for what it is, I suppose. I didn't enjoy it, but I'm sure kids would.

I'm going to re-watch it too, either tonight (I have it recorded) or tomorrow morning (or both XD). Can't wait to see your review, at least I have something to look forward to on a normally boring Monday XD

Hey Michelle! Very nice review of this cool play set. My experience with this play set was not that great. I got the play set about a month ago, and was so disappointed in it that I had to return it. In my eyes, it just wasn't worth the money. I basically had the same issues as you did, with not getting the features to work and what not. I too could not get my turtles to kick any bad guys through doors XD I also think one of the reasons I didn't like it too much is that I had the sewer lair before the pizza play set, and that was so great, and when comparing the two sets, the pizza set is pretty crappy XD Well, maybe Shredder's lair will be better, but I think the real problem is that the play set is just too small. I enjoyed your review very much! :)

The new DVD looks pretty cool! I read your review on it, and I think I will buy it after all. I was thinking I didn't want to buy it and just wait for a complete season set, but then I thought what if they didn't make a full season set and if I waited too long this DVD wouldn't be available anymore...I guess i'll just buy it, 10 bucks is a great price for it! I know this is off topic, but did you see the new "TCRI" episode? It was great! I can't wait to see your review on that too!

Yes the features are not as great as the Lair playset, but the lair playset was a $100+ toy while the Anchovy Alley is only $30. It's got it's cool features too, so I think it's worth the money. I don't see a kid packing the lair playset to their Grandparents or babysitter's houses, but they could bring the Anchovy Alley.

I did see the TCRI episode. Watching it again right now The review will be up on Monday ;)

I really enjoyed this review though while I was watching I was thinking all these playsets that they're coming out with wouldn't it be cool if they all connected together to make one big city
