Review: Company of Heroes

Earlier this month we did a Giveaway here for a DVD of the movie “Company of Heroes”.  This is a war movie that came to DVD recently that Sony Pictures released.  I’ve been asked to give a review of this film.  I am not normally a war movie fan, I’ve seen a few I’ve liked, but even those are barely ever watched.  So my review will be based on how I feel with War films.  If this is a movie I would recommend to my friends or family.  If you’re curious into my thoughts of this film, feel free to read on.

The Company of Heroes is about a group of soldiers who were sent on what was suppose to be an easy mission to deliver some food.  Though they get into a battle with German Soldiers.  Surprised to see so many warriors out in this area, they have to fight their way out of the mess.  Once in the clear they see something big go off in a distance, thinking it meant the Germans were fighting someone else they went there and found a bomb test site.  Finding a survivor who was spying on this site, to warn the US they must pick up this warriors missions.  Find their contact and stop this bomb from hitting the United States.

This movie is for people who love good shoot them up films.  As there are a lot of fights.  A lot of men shooting men.  And death all around.  Like most war movies you know from history which team is going to win.  So go for the action and a bit of the story they got going.  As you do learn about the leader of our heroes as you watch him claim in rank over a short amount of time, from his skills alone.  You keep hearing about his two women back home.  And you see how much he cares for the men he’s working with.  Like all true heroes he does does not come out of this war without some battle wounds of his own.

This was an okay movie, and for someone who really loves war movies I’m sure that this film would be great.  There was a few plot twists I liked towards the end of the movie.  Though I hate to spoil movie endings so I will not share that here.  It’s worth a watch once if you find it on tv, even if you’re not into war movies.  The acting is good, the effects are good, and the plot has a sound reason for this warriors to be running into the enemies land.
