Review: IDW MLP Applejack Micro

My Little Pony seems to have nitch traits for each of the Pony’s. Though when a situation with the Ponies is pushed more than once and you keep seeing them learn the same lesson it can get old.  That is one of the things we keep seeing with Applejack.  She wants to do everything on her own, turns down help and in the end realizes she needs the help.  I like her as a character, though I do find that story a bit old. So I was a tiny bit disappointed with this issue of IDW My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Micro Series.  Here is my review of Applejack’s story.

Story is that it is a Holiday and the Apple family is getting ready it.  Granny is working at getting the family to enjoy time together while getting the work done.  Though Applejack is seeing all the work that has to be done and is only focusing on that.  While things were right on time, a new problem started to happen.  Their apples were being traded out for squash by something.  Granny told the story of this creature that did this years ago and Applejack decides that her alone has to find and catch this thing to stop it from taking their apples.

While all of the characters were dead on with who they are and what they were doing.  And Big Mac was totally awesome with his net through the comic.  I was just disappointed to see this being the focus of her story.  In the cartoon we’ve seen her trying to harvest all the apples alone and even take off to raise some money on her own.  The story has been done before.  It would’ve been nice to see a take on a different part of Applejack’s personality.

It was an okay comic, got a few laughs and is good. Bobby Curnow did a great job at keeping all the character’s personalities in order.  And Brenda Hickey was awesome with the artwork. My favorite character in the comic is Big Mac.  So it is a nice read.
