This month has been so busy that I really did just totally forgot about things I needed to do. Even fell behind in stories for Cowabunga Corner, as we’ve been traveling, came down sick, and working on fixing up the house. So when I saw the new issue of My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic was coming out today, it took me by surprise. My mind raced to remembered the previous issues so that I knew where I was picking up. Luna is on a mission with Twilight Sparkle and friends to save Rarity from Nightmare Moon. I remember the other issues was building up the story and I was not sure how I was going to feel with where things were going with this plot. Here is my review of My Little Pony “Friendship is Magic” issue 7 by IDW.
In this issue of Friendship is Magic the ponies are surrounded by Nightmares as they learn that their friend Rarity has been turned into Nightmare Moon. Their full plan on how to win this battle has found it’s first real road block. The ponies go into war, against the nightmares though they do not stand a chance. Luna is forced to leave the Ponies there to get help. Spike is knocked out of the picture as our heroes are caught and locked away. Twilight is losing all hope as Fluttershy is making a new friend.
The more I read this comic the more I was pulled into it this time. It helped me get out of the stress of life around me and bring me into the story. The artwork and writing flowed really good. And the characters did not once throw me off or take me out of the story. This comic was as good as the cartoon and got me to really fall right into this storyline.
One of the things I really did like with this story was it left the lead Ponies in prison for a little bit and followed what happened with Spike. We see him working his best, facing his dreams, and learning the dangers that they are truly in for. The comic has left me wanting to read issue 8 right now. This is the first time I’ve really felt that with the My Little Pony comics, so I really am impressed with how Heather Nuhfer has been able to pull me into the plot. I truly do hope that this one has an ending that meets up to how good the middle of the story is.
While I find myself truly enjoying the MLP Comic books, to where I do make the point to write these reviews. It is sad that most of my friends who are into MLP has not taken the chance to pick up these books. I am hoping that with the first graphic novel for the comics coming out today, that more of my friends will read the story and be able to discuss their thoughts on how IDW is doing with their favorite characters. I truly hope that they find themselves as happy with IDW as I am, with how their crew is handling Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I can not wait to find out how the Ponies get out of this mess. If Spike is going to be a big part of their rescue. Who Luna gets to help the Ponies in their time of need. And of course how They are going to save Rarity from Nightmare Moon!
