“Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go!” Those words were made a hit back in 1991 when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze hit the theaters. I remember going to an early showing of the movie and sitting there as the Ninja Rap hit the big screen, the excitement that went through the crowd. This is one of those memories that keeps the older fans excited when they hear the song. So when Mac & Cheese decided to do their TV ad for the new Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mac & Cheese they found a way to address it to us older fans as well. Here is my review of the 2014 Kraft Mac & Cheese Commercial.
The commercial has Vanilla Ice stacking the shelves at a store with the new Ninja Turtles Mac & Cheese singing “Go, Ninja, Go Ninja, Go” when a lady comes up with her kid pushing the cart. The lady realizes who he is and has a fan moment, and starts to sing and dance with him, as the kid is looking confused and embarrassed by his mother’s reactions. The kid ends up taking the Mac & Cheese throwing it in the cart and turning to walk away while the mom is confused.
This is a fun commercial as it shows that while Ninja Turtles are known as a kid thing, adults can enjoy it too. This is the kind of stuff I wish we could see more of in the market. I know I laughed when I first saw this ad, and since then it has been posted on my Facebook wall many times. I even got to see Vanilla Ice perform in Dallas at the Epic Party. It’s really cool to see people come back from the old school TMNT. There is also a making of the commercial on youtube, if you have not seen that yet here it is.
These are two videos I recommend for TMNT fans just to bring a smile. A big thanks to Mac & Cheese for making this an ad anyone can enjoy. Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go!
