Review: Mix & Match Mutations Splinter, Metalhead & Slash

The Mix and Match Mutations has been one of the fun Toy lines that I’ve been covering this last month on Cowabunga Corner.  This is the third review that covers the Mix & Match Mutations first series.  Series one of these toys had the Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, Leonardo, Shredder, Tiger Claw, Metalhead, Slash and Splinter.  In this review I open, compare and mutate Splinter, Metalhead and Slash!

This toy line has to be one of the biggest surprises to me, as I did not see myself enjoying them as much as I have.  I knew they were on the market, but had that thought of “I already own these, why would I”.  Now that I’ve opened and got to see these toys up close, goof around with the different toys as I open them up.  I find myself wanting to keep up with this series as well as the regular release of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Toys.

I have to say my biggest disappointment with this toy line is that they did not take this chance to fix Splinter’s paint job.  His face has too much white to it, and not the right design that matches to the show.  They do so much to keep their characters looking like they’re part of the show, but with Splinter they allowed this same paint job to be released again.  Also since his legs are now detachable, it would’ve been nice if there was some paintwork on those legs for when they’re on other characters.

This does not take the fun away from the toy line though.  As my favorite thing that I found in these toys is Slash.  He is much taller than his previous release.  This gives us a chance to have some toys get upgrades and Slash is one of those toys.  I will be keeping my Mix and Match Slash with my normal toy line, just for the sake of having Slash look bigger when standing near the Turtles.

For my full reaction watch the video!  I do highly recommend these toys as they are a fun set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to explore for fans of all ages.  Even if you’re not so sure about it at first, just pick up a few and see if you find yourself lost in the activity.
