Warm weather is coming, which means lots of outside play time. From running through sprinklers, going to the beach and playing with Frisbees. With all of the excitement that fills the air every spring of what is to come, us Turtle fans are finding another reason to be excited with new Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle items coming to the stores just for this time of year as Kites, Bubble wands, and Sprinklers are hitting the stores. I am thrilled with so many of these toys, as I add them to the collection. I will like to take time to go over each of the different summer outside toys, as I do just about everything else. This time I am reviewing the Leonardo Flying Disc.
This is a plastic Frisbee, that has Leonard’s face on it. Not flat, but his face comes out. This is the Nickelodeon Leonardo design. He’s got a bit of a smile on his face which his more like a smirk. He’s really sure of what ever it is that is on his mind. The background is a mix of colors of purple, orange and blue. The rim and sides is a lime green. Really a fun Frisbee for any TMNT fan who enjoys going out into the sun tossing a disc around to friends.
The packaging is very simple on this flying disc, as the front has the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles logo, says for ages 3+ and that it flies High. The bottom left corner has the normal packaging image of the four Turtles. You can find this image on packages from just about any company producing Nickelodeon TMNT products.
On the back of the packaging it has the same words from the front, besides for “Ages 3+”. The words are bigger, and there is a picture with a young boy holding a Leo flying disc in his hand. Though most of the packaging is just the purple and green splatter design used for backgrounds on packaging. At the bottom we see that this is made by “What Kids Want”, and all the normal legal information.
The one thing that stands out different to me is “Colors and Styles may vary from pictures.” Does this mean if they do other discs they’re going to use this same image of the boy holding the disc, just to save on packaging design? It’s very plain packaging. Not even creative suggestions on ways to play with it. I just find this a very simple packaging as they’re use to kids buying and destroying the packaging.
Personally I’ve always liked creative packaging as even as a child I saved the back of the boxes from my toys. True most children are not like me. Though I do know there are others who save packagings as well. This type is okay, but they don’t make for good wall hangings after the toy is removed from the package.
I bought this for the collection. To be put away for the day when I can get my collection up for people to come and see it. This is a new product that will only be on the shelves for a short time. Something people may like to see in 10 to 20 years from now up on display next to 4Kids and original cartoon classic frisbees. It will most likely be put away till that time, with my rotating displays, so that it will at least be hanging in my room from time to time till then.
