Review: Power-Con 2013

On Friday, September 13 2013, me and my dad flew out to Torrance, California for the annual event "Power-Con". This was my first time ever visiting California. I was very excited to meet up with my friends Michele and Miki Ivey, who had traveled to the hotel that afternoon to set up for the con. Me and my dad had arrived at LAX Friday morning and made our way to the hotel to settle in. Friday afternoon we met up with Michele and Miki at the hotel, which is when I met Fugitoid. The five of us soon after made our way to Robbie Rist's Rock N Roll pizza show. We all had a great time, and it was a night I'll never forget spending time with friends.

The next day, I made my way to the convention. It was a lot of fun walking around and talking to people. The first panel we attended was the voices of the TMNT panel. Cam Clark, Townsend Coleman, Greg Cipes, and Christian Lanz all put on a good panel that everyone enjoyed.

The next panel we went to was the writers panel for the original TMNT animated series. This was the first panel that Michele hosted and also my first time behind the camera. While there were a few problems, the panel was still very enjoyable and a lot of fun.

The last panel I attended for the day was the Nickelodeon TMNT panel. This panel was a ton of fun. I couldn't believe I was actually at a panel for this series! Everyone was very excited for season 2, and the crew gave some great insight into how the series is made.

After the panel, me and Michele went up to the table to talk to Ciro Nieli, executive producer for the Nickelodeon series. He was very kind, and it was an honor getting to meet him. I made my way down to the signing tables where I got to see him again, along with Brandon Auman, head writer, and Ireno Maramba, design supervisor. The three of us then talked about Leatherhead and Newtralizer. This was without a doubt the highlight of the convention for me.

The rest of the convention I spent time hanging out with Fugitoid, HamekoKameko, Zkarlette, Christian, and Cynlee. I really enjoyed spending time with them, talking about turtles and just having a really good time.

I had an unforgettable time at Power-Con. I've made many new friends, and many memories to last a lifetime. I would be more than happy to do it all over again next year.
