Valentines Day is tomorrow! Are you ready? Have you got something for your sweetheart? Does your kids have their Valentine cards ready to be passed out to the classroom? Have you decided on every little detail to make this year Valentines Day something to remember? Well I haven’t, but I have got a ton of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Valentine items for 2014 which has been amusing. Today I share the last item that I will review for this year’s Valentines Day products. This is the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Valentine Candy Card Kit”.
With all of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products I have found this year, the Valentine Candy Card Kit surprises me the most. Why does it surprise me? Because the only thing that seems to really have changed with this set is the year on the box! Really… last year I got this same kit! Same cards! We’re even given away Donatello cards from this set as prizes here on Cowabunga Corner. I did not find anything else in the stores that matched up to the 2013 products that I saw last year. So this was a surprise to me.
With 28 cards & pops this is a fun set where people puts the candy with the card to give to their friends. There’s even a card for the teacher, which seems to be a forgotten item in most of the other TMNT Valentine sets this year. While having a teacher card is cool, the way they handle this is not so cool. There is only 4 designs in the set, one for each Turtle. Which means there’s only three designs to give out to friends. Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael are the normal cards to be given to the class, though Leonardo is the teacher card and there is only one of him in the entire box. Making it so Leonardo fans, can not get a Leonardo card from friends who are passing out this set of cards. I noticed this problem last year, and was hoping it would be fixed. Sadly it is not.
While the candy is okay, the cards are fun and make great for autographs from the cast to give away here on the site. The lack of the Leonardo card makes this set not as cool as most of the other Valentine releases. It just seems to be missing an important part to what fans look for with items like this.
This is released from Frankford Candy, the same people who brought us the Chocolate hearts and the Plastic Hearts with candy inside. They seem to have taken the food side of TMNT and worked into giving us different versions so everyone has something they can enjoy. Putting Frankford Candy on the list of companies to watch if you’re a TMNT fan. While this one product has the downfall of lacking Leonardo, it still works as a product so well that it came to stores two years back to back.
