Rise of TMNT Playmates Toys Don Review : Store release

Yesterday Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started on Nickelodeon.  In honor of the new series we are doing toy reviews for the Fall line of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys.  Michelangelo is already posted, today’s review is for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Donatello Action Figure.

The video gives the first reaction of opening up these toys, though for the four turtles I got the San Diego set first.  That video will be shared after the four Turtles from the store release is uploaded.  And it will include a comparison write up of San Diego Turtles to the store release.  This story is basing thoughts only on the store release that is shown in the video.

The video was filmed at Playmates Toys in their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles room.  On this day I got to film 13 reviews, the nine action figures being released in Fall as well as the four Giant Turtles.  Donatello is second I am going by the order I normally like the Turtles in.

One of the things I like most about the Donatello toys is that we can take off his hard shell that he wears to protect his soft shell and finally see his soft shell.  I really think that is a great touch, and they can make other shells to sell that can be used to cover up his soft shell.  This way fans can choose their favorite shells for Donatello to wear.

I find it interesting that Donatello is a soft shell and I am very thankful he does not have the softshell turtle nose.  Thank you Nickelodeon for not going that route.  I like that the Donatello toy is slightly taller than Michelangelo, though still not a fan of how small these toys are compared to my other TMNT action figures.

One thing I really like about both the Michelangelo and Donatello toy is that they both have knee pads, Covering up the weird joint knees that Raphael and Leonardo have.  Donatello also as elbow pads, unlike Mike.  These are small things I noticed as I pose the Turtles for photos, which has started to stand out more as I have more time with the toys.

What do you think of the Rise of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys? Are you planning to collect them?  Let us know your thoughts, comments and questions below!
