Video Review: Dimension X Turtles Action Figures

Starting in 1985 the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have taken to space on a number of adventures in the Mirage comics, original cartoon series, Archie Comics, and even the turtles from Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation went to space when they crossed over with the Power Rangers.  Space is just a part of who the Turtles are now.  They have different types of adventures.  And Nickelodeon has jumped in with sending the Turtles to Space, which means new toys from Playmates Toys!  Here is my review of the Dimension X Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael and Leonardo.

This is a very interesting toy line as it had a lot of surprises for me as I went through.  First was the body’s used for these toys seem to be from the storage shell TMNT line, complete with the open shells.  Though none of their weapon or gear fits into the shells, and the belts are on as if they’re not suppose to come off.  It seems like a strange choice for this toy line.  Another strange has to do with their belts, though to see the surprise and learn about this mistake watch the review video.

I do have a few things to share since the video was filmed.  With the space suites I’ve taken notice that Michelangelo and Leonardo have the same design chest plates, besides for where the rectangle is on their chest, Leo’s is too his right and Michelangelo’s is too his left.  While Donatello and Raphael share the same space suites, with just a few slight changes on their chest plates as well.  Thankfully they added color there to tell them apart.  Wish that could be said for all of the space gear.

A pet peeve of mine with toys is holsters.  I like being able to put my weapons on the toy belts.  Normally that is where they stay after I get the toy opened up.  Otherwise weapons normally end up inside a bag full of other weapons to barely ever get the chance to see the light of day.  Not one Turtle has a holster for his weapons this time, not even Leonardo.  And even worse, if you have the little Shredder claw things on their  hands, they have a hard time holding their weapons.  Yes they can hold the weapons, but they fall out of the hands so fast.

These are fun toys, so I do recommend them for fellow TMNT fans and collectors.  I’ve goofed off with them on my desk while editing the video, putting them in different poses, opening and closing their helmets.  And checking out their armor a bit more.  Giving me extra entertainment in just getting to know the toys.  I do like that they still make the Turtles the right sizes next to each other, I do enjoy Mikey remaining the shortest Turtle.

These are from Playmates Toys.  The company that has stayed with the TMNT for the longest time, and helped make the Turtles to be what they are today.  Please do take the time to check their websites:
