Video Review: TMNT Ooze Flingers

In 2013 and 2014 there was a lot more to do with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ooze toys.  We had the ooze that was released and the came out with rides and action figures that could use it.  Some of which just did not make sense to me.  Though these are still part of the TMNT line and worth looking into.  Here is my review of the TMNT Ooze Flingers.

I personally call these my Ghostbuster TMNT toys.  As it reminds me as if the Turtles, mainly Raphael, is dressing up to be a Ghostbuster.  Though the packs on their back is not to catch ghost, no it’s to throw ooze.  This is the part that confuses me so much with these toys… why in the world would the Turtles be throwing ooze?  They’re trying to collect and prevent people from touching it.  They’re not the ones out to mutate anyone.  So right away these toys feel odd to me and just doesn’t make sense.

As a kid who enjoyed playing with ooze I wanted to give them a try.  But the ooze I used for the video was not thick enough to be thrown, it didn’t even want to leave the scoop.  So I found it better to use the little hard ooze pieces that came with it.  Since I got them though, they’ve just sort of traveled with my TMNT toys and sit in the back of the shelve letting all the cool characters such as Casey Jones, Slash, Metalhead and Leatherhead stand in front of them.  These are toys for a certain type of collector, the ones that like playing with ooze.

I went to look for them in the recent TMNT booklets that come with the new toys, and found that they’re not even listed anymore.  I think online may be your best bet at finding these toys as they are a bit older.  This review was filmed in 2014, though the footage was lost in files till recently.

Some of the things that make these toys not on my tops list, lack of movement.  Their arms and legs are so stiff.  You can’t bend at either elbows or knees.  You can turn the Turtles in away they shouldn’t be able to turn, but you can’t move the joints that are normally moveable.  You can see this in the video.  They don’t come with their weapons, though unlike some of the new toys that have come out they have the areas to hold their weapons, if you’re going to use those you need to take weapons from another set of Turtle toys.  They don’t even come with their own ooze to be used in the thrower other than the little hard pieces.   I like having them in my collection, but I don’t need them out in the open all the time.

I recommend these toys for those who really like ooze.  Or collectors who want everything.  Or fans who’d like to fix them up to be Ghostbuster Turtle toys, that might be interesting to see.  I do wanna give these toys credit for at least making them the correct sizes next to each other.

These are from Playmates Toys.  The company that has stayed with the TMNT for the longest time, and helped make the Turtles to be what they are today.  Please do take the time to check their websites:
