One of the best thing about people is how we come together in times of need. This can be said about many different groups of people, even those who like what we do here at Cowabunga Corner helped with our kickstarter account. People are able to come together and help those we care for. Right now this is happening in one fandom that is coming together to help a Voice Actor who went through a really hard life changing event last year, his fellow voice actors have come together to hold an event to help him where they can. Bringing us fans, a chance to help and meet people whom are not always easy to meet. This event is for Yu-Gi-Oh! though it has a lot of Ninja Turtle Connections.
In Fall 2011, Dan Green lost his wife a few hours after the birth of their twins, due to complications during the delivery. Dan is best known as the voice of Yugi, in Yu-Gi-Oh, though he’s also done some voices for the 4Kids Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, including the old toon version of Leonardo in “Turtles Forever”. His fellow voice actors have been reaching out to help him through this rough time, drumming up donations where they can. Which lead them to teaming up with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series.
On October 20th and 21st, 2012 the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series will be taking place at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, RI. A handful of voice actors will be appearing who’ve worked on Yu-Gi-Oh! Here is the video that tells us a bit about this event.
For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans I’ll like to share who some of these voice actors are with TMNT. Wayne Grayson was the voice of Michelangelo, Greg Abbey was Raphael, Darren Dunstan was Splinter, Erica Shroeder is known under a different name in Ninja Turtles, Megan Hollingshead where she played Sydney, Ted Lewis was the Ultimate Ninja, and Mike Pollock was Kirby and Garbageman! These are just the names they gave us, and each one of them is someone who worked on the awesome Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series that ran from 2003 thru 2009. Making this event one not to miss for TMNT fans.
Not only is this a great event for getting the chance to meet amazing voice actors, but knowing that by going you can help Dan Green with the hard times he’s going through. Help his twins have a promising future. Just by taking part in this event, you are donating towards this amazing goal of being there for someone. Which is why I really want to embrace this event and encourage people to go.
Are you planning to attend this event? Do you think you can spare a little to help Dan out on his website if you’re not going? Please share your thoughts, comments and questions below!
