Since October 2009, when the news was released that Viacom bought the Turtles. Fans have been watching more and more of the stuff we know of Mirage disappear. With the official Turtle website now down for maintenance, the Mirage comics closing down, the few workers still with Mirage only being there a few days a week to handle the orders that come in for their back stock, and now a good bye on their Facebook page.

The first Thursday of every month a people gather at the Main Arts Theater in Royal Oak, Michigan for an event that gets everyone to howl. This event is called “The Killer B's” where Wolfman Mac from Chiller Drive-In and his crew host a really bad movie and get to mingle with the fans who show up. Every time I’m in town for this event, I make sure to attend, for the laughter, the boos, and hitting a beach ball around.
In the last week Turtle fans have been hit with a lot of news a select group of fans was chosen to go to Nickelodeon to have a sneak peek at the Mutation in Progress itself. They were treated with hotel, food and even gifts from Nickelodeon. These lucky people got to share their feedback on what they thought of the things that were shown to them. Now, some of them are sharing their stories with the rest of the fans.
On April 1st, IDW Publishing announced that they have received the rights to publish new Ninja Turtle comics! The curious thing I find about this is that they’re doing comics based on the ‘original’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as they keep bringing up Eastman and Laird in the press release. So are their comics going to be based on the original Mirage story line or the original cartoon story line?
