Matthew's First Comicon

My First Comicon

A Turtle Fan’s Dream Come True

While I have been to a couple conventions of a similar variety, I had not yet been close enough to a comic convention that contained much of anything I cared to pay for. A few months ago, I saw it announced that TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman would be in Raleigh at the NC Comicon and there were early bird tickets that included Eastman exclusive perks such as early seating for panels and extra signatures. I immediately bought one as a birthday present to myself, but I really didn’t need an excuse.

Kodak Moment #70

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is from Youmacon 2006.

Rise of the TMNT : Donatello's Design

The internet exploded shortly after the designs for the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series was released in February.  As fans of all ages found themselves split down the middle upon the new look and feel for the Ninja Turtles, as there’s no question that this is a road they’ve never been on before.  I tried to write one story that would include my thoughts on the Facebook Live, designs, show overall and even the toys.  But it got long and hard to write, let alone read.  Which brings me here, where I’m going to give a short write up about each of the things revealed about “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.  Let’s talk about Donatello and his new design.

Movie Reviews: "Ready Player One" and More!

It’s been a long time since I did a movie review as I only do these when I get screening tickets.  That way I can get reviews out when they’re most needed, the release date.  Though with all those stresses of life this last year, I just didn’t go to the movies much.  Till this last week, somehow we got three screenings.  Two last week and one this week.  While  the two I saw last week were good, I didn’t get a chance to review them.  So I’ll touch lightly on them, though the movie from this week I want to dive into as it blew my mind.  So here’s my reaction to “Ready Player One”.

Turtle Tracks

Hi. My name is Jen Selinsky, and I’ve been a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles since 1990. For the next couple years, I found myself obsessed with the franchise. Primarily, there was the TV show. I also collected some of the action figures, plush toys, and trading cards. And though I wasn’t adamant that I had to have everything turtle related, those who knew me were also aware of my obsession.

As I merged into my adolescence, I became obsessed with other things, such as boys. I’d dated a few guys during junior high and high school; it became obvious that I’d abandoned my four reptilian friends for a sudden surge of hormones!
