Review: Motor City Comic Con 2015

In 1997 I learned of Motor City Comic Con.  Since that year, I have been going every year to this local event.  Most years there are no real Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles connection, so it’s not the guest that I go for, I go for my friends.  For the past 10 years, I get in by helping friends at a booth, so I can enjoy this convention.  As long as I am in Michigan, during Motor City Comic Con, I will attend.  Here is my review for Motor City Comic Con 2015.

Review: D-Lux Entertainment Expo 2014

Fandom is a very tricky thing.  Some fans are happy with just enjoying their world around them, other fans feel they need to compete with their fellow fans and a lot of fans want to reach out and do something great for the fandom.  Sometimes fans can make such a huge impact their names and faces are known all around, while many great fans do wonderful things for the fandom without receiving the credit they deserve.  The one thing I can truly say about this, it’s not easy being a fan who wants to do stuff for the fandom.  When someone does make that step, and watch things happen around them they can get lost in everything and not even realize all they did till the time has blo

Review: Motor City Comic Con 2013

In 1996 I made friends with a woman who took the nickname Leonardo on TMNT-L. Before knowing her, I went to SiFi conventions only, though she introduced me to comic book conventions. The first Comic Con I went to was Mid-Ohio Comic Con, I’ve only been to that event a few times.

Review: Chiller Theater 2013

Conventions is one of my favorite pass times, getting to meet the neat people who’ve worked on Ninja Turtles.  Go to panels and learn more about the industry.  And hang out with fellow Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans.

Review; Michael Nesmith Solo Show 2013

As a child I did not listen to the radio very often.  When I would hear music, it would be records or tapes of the other things my family enjoyed.  The music I heard most was The Monkees, a band from the 1960s which was created for a TV show starring Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith.  This became my favorite music growing up.

Review NYC Comic Con 2012

New York Comic Con is one of those events that you either really enjoy or not.  And since the first one, I have made it a goal to get to New York Comic Con yearly.  This event has almost as much as San Diego International Comic Con for the fans.  Actually, it has one thing going for it that San Diego does not.  It is for the fans, meaning fans are put first.  Making it a much more relaxing event.  Even though they have big crowds, exciting panels and an impressive dealer room, they have been able to keep it down to earth and very friendly.  The big question is, have they been able to keep this feel as the convention grows?

Review: Fright Night 2012

One of the things I do often is go to conventions.  I find it very cool to meet the actors behind the tv shows and movies that I enjoy.  It's neat to hear their stories, and through conventions, I often find new things to check into.  So when I heard of Fright Night Film Fest in Louisville, KY with guests such as Corey Feldman and Sean Astin, I knew this could be a convention I was interested in attending.  I chose this convention to be the beginning of my cross country trip to San Diego for Comic Con International 2012.  Here is my review of Saturday, June 30th at Fight Night Film Fest!

Words and Pictures Membership Party 1997

In honor of it being Kevin Eastman’s Birthday, a week from today, I would like to share one of my many stories of a time I met up with Kevin.  Today’s story goes back to 1997 at the Words & Pictures Museum.  It was time for the Words & Pictures membership party and a handful of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans from the TMNT-L mailing list decided to meet up for the event this year.  It was a busy weekend.  On Thursday, Kevin was doing a speech about his life at the museum and we also had the airing of the second episode of the Next Mutation that Friday.

Random Collection Piece #3

Throughout the years of being a Ninja Turtle fan, my collection has been growing.  Every year I get something new that joins the collection.  Growing since 1989, I have over 500 Ninja Turtle toys out of package and over 300 in package, as well as books, animation cels, original comic art, scripts and so much more.  To cover all of this on Cowabunga Corner is not something I really think I can do.

TMNT Monster Truck

Over the years there has been a lot of really cool things made for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  Stuff people enjoy from toys, comics, clothes, even skateboards and skis.  Though one of the biggest and most awesome things I’ve ever seen made for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the Monster Truck!
