Kodak Moment #86

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is from my 8th Birthday Party.

Happy Birthday TMNT! 2014 - Creation

On November 19th, 1983 Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird created the TMNT.  The two of them made history that day, by bringing characters to life who would soon touch the life of millions.  Little did they know the impact their artwork could have on the world.

31 years since they were first drawn with so much done.  There are still many roads for the TMNT to take in the future!

Review: Free Comic Book Day 2013

The first Saturday in May is a yearly event that people can enjoy. As Comic Book stores receive Free Comic Books to pass out to anyone who shows up. In the Detroit area each Comic Book store does their own thing and the event takes place in the store. This is how I thought it was done everywhere, though this year there was two events I wanted to go to that was out of state. I was in for a shock with how one town runs their free comic book day like a Holiday.

1991 Turtles at School

Every year for my birthday back when I was in elementary school, my mom would bring cupcakes for the full class.  Though only one of those times did it really stand out as it was during the best school year of my life.  I’ve already shared how I was bullied in school.  Well, in the sixth grade my mom moved me to another school, sadly I was only in this school for one year, Harding Elementary, with my teacher Mr. Aspinwall.

A Gift of Love, Remembering My Grandmother

Caring. Thoughtful. Wise. Inspirational. These are a few words that I could use to describe my grandmother. I’m sure everyone has someone in their life that they can give a lot of credit to for who they turned out to be in life. For me, I have a few people who helped me find my way through life. Today, I’d like to talk about one of those people, one who helped me not fall into depression through my childhood with the terrifying events that I would go through at school.

Cowabunga Corner #10

In This episode we go back to late 1990 and early 1991, the beginning of my days as a Turtle for Children Birthday parties, movie theaters and more. I was surprised to find this much video footage from those days, including video from one of our first parties.
