Convention

Review: New York City Comic Con 2011

New York City Comic Con is a convention worthy of having returning fans and booths.  With a great lay out, fun panels, and a nice size crowd, guests for all sorts of people, games for young and older fans and tons of comic booths and artist for everyone to enjoy, this is not an event that disappoints the attendees.  Every year they try to make it bigger and better, with goals to become as big as San Diego Comic Con. Though, personally, I’d be happy if it stays at the size the convention is at right now.

Review Detroit FanFare 2011

Detroit FanFare, the new show in town, is trying to become as big as Motor City Comic Con fast.  This show did great last year with Stan Lee as their guest of honor so they figured they’d pull in the same type of crowd this year without Stan Lee and jumped into Cobo Hall in Downtown Detroit.  The plan was flawed as the guest list did not include Stan Lee and the event was not free to the public like it was last year.  Though the event was a blast for EVERY attendee that came to the convention.

San D Comic Con International 2011 Review

Comic Con International is one of the largest Conventions in the United States and is held every year in San Diego, CA.  This event holds panels for movies, tv shows, comics, toys and so much more. Truly a world wide event for entertainment which brings in people from all around  trying to meet the stars, get autographs or buy that rare comic con exclusive toy.  Comic Con International 2011 went strong and Cowabunga Corner was there to cover it.

World Steam Expo 2011

The World Steam Expo.  Steam Punk?  My first thought was Punk Rock, and I never was a fan of that.  Though people tried to explain it to me, even showed me web pages and videos for Steam Punk, the full idea just seemed so different to me.  I was not grasping the idea of this event, and once I read the events at the expo I almost felt like it was a fashion show with many panels on how to put your costumes together, making the props, and being in character.

CCN World Steam Expo Thursday 2011

Con Review: Motor City Comic Con 2011

Since 1997, I have been attending “Motor City Comic Con”, a comic book convention held in Novi, Michigan.  Like most comic book conventions, there’s a dealer room, artist alley, panel rooms and guests.  They bring in Media guests from all sorts of medias from TV shows, movies and wrestling.  And let’s not forget the long list of comic artist that they bring in.

Michele Ivey's "Cowabunga Corner" 50

Hey everyone, welcome to episode 24 of Cowabunga Corner Season 2!

Michele Ivey's "Cowabunga Corner" #43

Mark Bode's TMNT Cartoon Concert

In episode 3 of "Ivey's Flashback", we have a panel, "Mark Bode's TMNT Cartoon Concert" that was held at Turtle Con 1992, the only official Turtle Con that's been held to date. My dad and I went to this panel, and my dad video taped. This panel was different than any other I've ever sat through. Held by Mark Bode and Steve Lavigne.

Wolfman Mac's Chriller Drive-In

"Spider Baby", the Original "Little Shop of Horror", and "King Kong Escapes" all have something in common these days. Night time Horror Host Shows. Usually on Friday or Saturday night you can find some TV show with a creepy host showing bad old movies, making fun of them and doing their own things in between the clips of the movie. In July 2007 a new face came to the world of Horror Host, Wolfman Mac.
