Franklin Cider Mill

I travel to all sorts of events, tourist traps, and cities around the United States.  Going coast to coast each year, and getting to meet people from all around while doing so.  Often I tell people there’s not much to Michigan, I grew up in Michigan and find it hard to enjoy as I see so much else where that is so cool.  Though when it comes down to the heart of it, there are a few places I love, such as the Dairy Park.  I will like to share another one of those locations, this time I’m going to talk about the Franklin Cider Mill.

Kodak Moments #22 - In Memory of a Friend

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that have been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is friends.

My Father : Dave Ivey

Family, the key that helps us shape up to who we become.  If people want to believe it or not, their family has a strong influence on their life.  Folks who are there for you every steps of the way, those who barely know you’re alive and even those who disappear before memories can truly begin to take place.  Each one cause a rift of waves that will forever set you on a path unique only to you and those close to you.  Each family has a different feel, their own fingerprint.  I feel lucky to be in the family that I have.  Often I share their stories, the good and the bad.  I feel that those around you, everyone you meet and see, lives on through your memories.  Sharing those memories is how to k

Loving Memory of Toby

Movie Review: Ted

Over the years cartoons got known to be something for children or family entertainment.  Though some shows have rocked that boat to remind people that animation is for people of all ages including adults.  Shows like “The Simpsons”, “Family Guy” and “South Park” have got people a bit more wary of thinking that every cartoon is for kids.  Though when you see a soft fluffy teddy bear being animated on the big screen, it’s hard to think it’s not for children.  Which leads us to a new movie coming to theaters this week, “Ted”.

In Memory of Sassy

Family is a big part of my life, from my blood relatives to friends, and pets.  With pets I’ve always had them around as long as I can remember.  Cats and dogs have been in my family.  I’ve heard the tales of the pets before my memories, though it’s the ones that have taken part in my life that I do recall which I want to share the memories of.   So from time to time I’ll come on here to share a story of someone who touched my life, from dogs, cats, birds and even chipmunks.  Right now I want to share 15 years of the life of a dog named Sassy.

Hazel Park's Dairy Park

When growing up as a child, there was a local treat that my mother would take me to, it was an ice cream shop shaped like a barn.  The small house next to it had these plastic animals in it that was fun to look at as we would sit at the picnic table eating our ice cream.  Not a far drive from where we lived, this was a treat we enjoyed on hot summer days.  They had shakes, malts, cones, banana splits and more, even hot food like hot dogs.  The Dairy Park is a place that people could go for some really good affordable food.

Movie Review: Dark Shadows

In 1966 a new kind of soap opera hit the TV, one about vampires, witches, ghost, and mystery.  This series followed a young lady named Victoria Winters, who moved to a house which was known throughout the town as being haunted.  The show was finding its footing for the first 200 episodes, as they gave us a few mystery storylines along with the normal soap drama.

A Gift of Love, Remembering My Grandmother

Caring. Thoughtful. Wise. Inspirational. These are a few words that I could use to describe my grandmother. I’m sure everyone has someone in their life that they can give a lot of credit to for who they turned out to be in life. For me, I have a few people who helped me find my way through life. Today, I’d like to talk about one of those people, one who helped me not fall into depression through my childhood with the terrifying events that I would go through at school.
