Movie Review

Review: "The Raven"

Edgar Allan Poe was a great writer who lived a hard life.  In his final days, he was found out of it and taken to a hospital, where he died.  The facts of his death remain a mystery to this day.  A new movie is coming out this weekend called “The Raven”, which centers on a time where no one really knows what happened.  The movie comes up with it’s own myth for the death of Edgar Allan Poe, showing us the last few days of what could've been his life, an adventure story of mystery, death and romance.

Review: Pirates Band of Misfits

With all sorts of CGI movies coming out these days, it’s a breath of fresh air to see an animated movie that is not CGI.  “The Pirates! Band of Misfits” is a great movie coming to theaters this Friday, full of laughs, adventure, and fun characters.  Originally this movie was titled “The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists”, which made a lot more sense as these Pirates find themselves entering a Scientist of the Year contest.

Review: Comic-Con: Episode IV – A Fan’s Hope

Comic-Con: Episode IV – A Fan’s Hope Movie PosterFor the last couple of years, one of the things I have wanted to do is attend Comic-Con (San Diego Comic-Con International) and I thought this year would be the year that I would make this goal a reality. However, a couple of months ago I was invited to an important event happening during the same weekend, so once again this year no Comic-Con for me. But then I learned of a new Morgan Spurlock documentary coming out called "Comic-Con: Episode IV – A Fan’s Hope" that would be about Comic-Con.

Review: Wrath of the Titans

Most Ninja Turtle fans right now eyes are all on the news about the new “Ninja Turtles” movie for 2013, which has us watching those who are named for the film, one of which is director Jonathan Liebesman.  As I mentioned in a post back when we first heard that Liebesman was looking to be the new director for the “Ninja Turtles” movie, I have not really known who he was.  Never seeing any movies directed by him before.

"The Muppets" on DVD & Blu-Ray

All my life I’ve been a Muppet fan. Even as a child, it was the first TV program that my full family would gather to watch together.  Kermit, Fozzie, Miss Piggy, Animal, and the rest of the crew are all wonderful and inspirational.  The original Muppet Movie is one of my favorite movies of all time.

"The Adventures of Tintin" DVD & Blu-Ray

Throughout 2011, I went to a lot of movies and was left with mix feelings of loving the movie and having issues with the film.

Justice League: Doom DVD & Blu-Ray

There are so many cartoon franchises out there. Though, in my opinion, one of the best is those done by DC Comics, Bruce Timm, and Paul Dini.

Movie Review: Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance

In 2007, Ghost Rider tarnished the movie screens with its poor acting, poor plot, and poor directing. Though it managed to make more than double it’s budget back in box office tickets, with over 50 million dollars made during the opening weekend. This was enough of a profit to justify a sequel.

50/50: Movie Review

Last week I decided to go see 50/50. I’ve heard good things about the film and wanted to see it for myself. The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Adam, a young man who goes to the doctor one day to figure out the cause to some pain in his lower back. Lo and behold he has cancer. Throughout the film, Adam’s best friend Kyle, played by the lovable Seth Rogen, tries his best to help his buddy get through this life-shattering ordeal. Just the idea of seeing these two in a movie together was enough to make me want to watch it, but then we get Bryce Dallas Howard as Adam’s girlfriend.

Movie Review: Real Steel

Since Comic Con International, I’ve been waiting for a movie to hit the theaters, “Real Steel”.  At the convention, we got to see the robots that will be used in the movie.  Hugh Jackman was there to promote the movie, and not only did my sister, Miki, get to meet him where he signed a poster for her, we saw him later on the streets of San Diego.  Later, during my Los Angels trip, we met up with another crew member from “Real Steel” who also worked on “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze”.
