Movie Review: Megamind

More and more lately we are seeing a lot of CGI movies coming to theater. It feels as if a lot of them are just thrown together to make money and nothing else.  We get slammed with bad animation with poorly written plots, but voiced by A-List actors.  Though 2010 has been finding itself some real worthwhile CGI movies like “Toy Story 3″, “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Despicable Me”.  These type of movies make me decide to go back to the theater to give each of these CGI films a chance, knowing every now and than you’ll find the diamond in the rough.

Movie Review: Paranormal Activity 2

The first movie was quite a spectacular feat as it is considered the most profitable movie of all time. Why was it so popular? Because it played on our deepest fears of the unknown.

For the second movie, they not only play on our fears of the unknown, but also on our fear of bad things happening to innocent children. They want you to feel the fear for the family, as they don’t realize things are happening to the child.

Movie Review: Red

There’s just sometimes you need to shut your brain down and try to enjoy yourself with some action and comedy, and that’s exactly what you get here with Red. It’s loosely based off of a Warren Ellis graphic novel. I can’t tell you how loosely based, I can only go by what I have read online about the comparison as I have not read the graphic novel but I will soon. Though I’m sure there are some die hard graphic novel fans who are highly opposed to this flick. Yet, until I read the graphic novel, I really enjoyed myself with this movie.

Cowabunga Corner #17

In this episode I talk about the TMNT 2007 Movie Toy line done by Playmate toys.

I collect all the different toy lines of the Turtles that I can get my hands on, and at some point I hope to go through all the different toy lines with reviews on my likes and dislikes. This may take awhile since Cowabunga Corner is doing a lot more stuff than toy reviews, though this is one of the things that will come up from time to time.

Cowabunga Corner #16

In this episode of “Cowabunga Corner” I give my review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3.

Movie Review Corner: Ninja Assassin

The title alone made me want to go see this movie. Who honestly doesn’t love ninjas, right?

This movie is definitely for those who just need to turn their brains off for a while, enjoy some martial arts insanity, and don’t mind buckets of gore. Yes, gore. There was so much blood being sprayed EVERYWHERE in this movie. It took me by surprise how many dismembered limbs were flying around and how much brains I saw while watching this movie. Their weapons sliced through bone like it was made out of butter. As one person puts it: “Ninja Assassin opens with a scene of such unmitigated gore as to classify itself more as splatter film than action flick.”

The most interesting parts are those that show the young Raizo learning the way of the ninja. It’s a brutal upbringing, but one would expect so of trained assassins. Doubt Splinter was THAT strict.
