Review: IDW TMNT #3

Issue #3 of the IDW TMNT comics came out months ago. Though I’ve been keeping up with reading the comics, I have fallen behind in reviewing them.  Really sorry about that.  I am going to work at catching up on doing some reviews starting with where I left off.  Going to be harder to keep my mind only on #3, since I have read all the way through issue #5.  Though this one is going to focus on only issue 3, not what we know is to come still.

Michele Ivey's "Cowabunga Corner" #69

Hey everyone,

Welcome to episode 17 of Cowabunga Corner Season 3. In this episode I talk about the relationship between Raphael and Ninjara. My favorite TMNT Couple. If you don't know who Ninjara is, please pick up the Archie TMNT Comics they're GREAT!

Michele Ivey's "Cowabunga Corner" #68

Hey everyone! Welcome to episode 16 of Cowabunga Corner Season 3. In this episode I review the Ninja Turtle Christmas VHS that came out in the mid 1990′s, called “We Wish You a Turtle Christmas”. A video tape made for children and fear by most adult fans.

I have always been a fan of things made for children, I like to be able to entertain people of all ages. Have you watched “We Wish You a Turtle Christmas” if so what are your thoughts on it?

Review: Redford Theatre

Detroit, Michigan has been a very hard-up town for a long time now.  Many people do not want to go there for really good reasons, with a high crime rate, police taking hours to respond, low income, and an overall hard-up feeling to the city with businesses closing down and unemployment going up. What type of business could be worth going into this city?  Well there are some big places that have managed to keep going downtown, it’s nice when you can find that diamond in the rough that is surviving these hard times.

Review: New York City Comic Con 2011

New York City Comic Con is a convention worthy of having returning fans and booths.  With a great lay out, fun panels, and a nice size crowd, guests for all sorts of people, games for young and older fans and tons of comic booths and artist for everyone to enjoy, this is not an event that disappoints the attendees.  Every year they try to make it bigger and better, with goals to become as big as San Diego Comic Con. Though, personally, I’d be happy if it stays at the size the convention is at right now.

Movie Review: Real Steel

Since Comic Con International, I’ve been waiting for a movie to hit the theaters, “Real Steel”.  At the convention, we got to see the robots that will be used in the movie.  Hugh Jackman was there to promote the movie, and not only did my sister, Miki, get to meet him where he signed a poster for her, we saw him later on the streets of San Diego.  Later, during my Los Angels trip, we met up with another crew member from “Real Steel” who also worked on “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze”.

American Horror Story: Television Review

October always seems to be the month to release horror stories on both the big screen and the small screen. Last year, Walking Dead was released to AMC and devastated the competition, becoming a very successful television series for last year and being highly anticipated for this year. Another highly anticipated television series is The American Horror Story on the FX Network.

When I saw the first trailer for this television series, my interest was peaked. I’m all about paranormal phenomena, haunted houses, and the story of the people dealing with the strangeness. I was eagerly awaiting the new show, with high hopes. Fortunately, those hopes were not completely dashed.

Michele Ivey's "Cowabunga Corner" #57

Welcome to episode 5 of Cowabunga Corner Season 3. In this episode I talk about some of the other TMNT blogs out there.

I know I could never cover every blog, so I decided to talk about a handful which are very cool to read from time to time for either information on the past or up coming news about the Turtles.

Movie Review: Foot Loose 2011

A remake of another 1980’s movie, “Footloose” is coming to the theaters this month.  I’ve had the chance to get a sneak peek at this movie, and wanted to share my thoughts.  While I know I saw the original version of this movie at some point in my life, it’s not something fresh on my mind so this review is about the new film only.  A film that I felt they did really good on.

Review Detroit FanFare 2011

Detroit FanFare, the new show in town, is trying to become as big as Motor City Comic Con fast.  This show did great last year with Stan Lee as their guest of honor so they figured they’d pull in the same type of crowd this year without Stan Lee and jumped into Cobo Hall in Downtown Detroit.  The plan was flawed as the guest list did not include Stan Lee and the event was not free to the public like it was last year.  Though the event was a blast for EVERY attendee that came to the convention.
