Review: IDW TMNT #2

Issue #2 of the new IDW Comics has just been released. Last time we were left off was with Casey Jones being attacked by his drunk father.  Raphael jumps in to stop this attack, so that is where they pick up right away with the comic.  We get to see a fight between Casey’s father and Raphael.  The father does put up a good fight before getting thrown out of his own house and driving away.  Raphael and Casey now start to talk and make friends, once Casey asks where Raph is from it goes into another flashback of the lab where April O’Neil is working.

Review: Casey Jones Fan Movie

This week a new fan movie premiered on the internet called “Casey Jones” by Polaris Banks and is based off of Casey Jones from Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  This has been a project in the works for a few years as the trailer had been online for awhile.  I got the chance to watch it the night the movie was up for public viewing and found myself glued to it until the very end.

Review "Image TMNT #24"

In 2000, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came to it’s first real stand still where there was nothing new for the fans, as the bad news hit everyone the Image Comics were ending at issue #23.  At this time, Image was the only source of new stories for the Turtles, written by Gary Carlson, with artwork by Frank Fosco.

Attending the Tonight Show Review

Ever want to go to a live taping of a talk show?  Well for me, I’ve thought about it a few times, though it’s not one of those things I’ve ever gone out of my way to do.  I would if it included Ninja Turtles, but I never had that chance as they were always out of state back in the day when the Turtles did appear on shows such as Oprah.

Review IDW TMNT #1

August 2011 marked the beginning of a new TMNT comic book series.  A lot of hype has surrounded this comic release with Kevin Eastman back on the creative team of the Turtles, this is something we could all look forward to.  I know I have been excited ever since I heard Kevin’s name was attached to the comic.  It took me a few weeks to get the book, as the first store I checked was sold out and I didn’t know the area well enough to know of another store to go for the new comics.  After I finally went to one, I read it on the subway train ride to my next location.

The Smurfs: Movie Review

Being a child of the 80s, I adored The Smurfs cartoon, giggling every time that Brainy received a kick out of the village.  Though, I must admit that I was terrified upon seeing the original teaser trailer. The continuing trailers did not ease my fears. Yet, when I received tickets to an advanced screening, I decided to attend and judge the movie itself.

While this summer has been filled with sequels or properties based on comic books, it has been an explosive summer. The latest blockbuster is Captain America: The First Avenger. Based on a comic book that began back during the second World War, Captain America is one of Marvel Comics' flagship characters and an icon known worldwide.
