Welcome to episode 9 of Cowabunga Corner Season 3. In this episode I get to sit down and interview Townsend Coleman who is best known as Michaelangelo from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon.
Townsend also did other characters on TMNT like Groundchuck, Rat King, Rahzar, Screwloose, Usagi Yojimbo and Muckman. Townsend worked on many other shows like The Tick, SWAT Kats, TalesSpin, Teen Wolf and his first cartoon gig ever was Inspector Gadget.

In 2000, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came to it’s first real stand still where there was nothing new for the fans, as the bad news hit everyone the Image Comics were ending at issue #23. At this time, Image was the only source of new stories for the Turtles, written by Gary Carlson, with artwork by Frank Fosco.

The crowd was thick around a small pizza place in San Diego today, as fans of the TMNT gathered for the Nickelodeon's "Mutation in Progress" event. The pizza place had large images of the Turtles over all the windows, so no one could see inside. Images of the new CGI show, for everyone outside as the sidewalk had Ninjas all over the place.

On June 3rd, 2011 at Brave New Worlds Comics in Philadelphia, PA, there was an art show held during the evening. Art work covered the foyer walls of the comic book shop. Pieces ranging from drawings to dolls. A table sat between the two doors with pizza boxes stacked up. People could come and go as they please, talk, enjoy some art and even shop around a comic chop. Though what makes this event stand out to Cowabunga Corner is that the art show was focused on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

With TMNT having down time as we watch every piece of news coming out from Nickelodeon and IDW for something new, it’s good to see spoofs of the Turtles on the air to give us all something to enjoy. Recently on Cartoon Network their Mad TV cartoon did it’s own spoof on TMNT mixed with TMZ, calling it TMNTMZ TV.

In the last week Turtle fans have been hit with a lot of news a select group of fans was chosen to go to Nickelodeon to have a sneak peek at the Mutation in Progress itself. They were treated with hotel, food and even gifts from Nickelodeon. These lucky people got to share their feedback on what they thought of the things that were shown to them. Now, some of them are sharing their stories with the rest of the fans.
In this episode I dicuss my feelings about the Image Comic Book series over all. From the stories, art, and how it ended up ending to soon. This comic series is one of my favorites that has come out through the years because of how dareing they were to throw things at us that would shock the fans.
